Flix Brewhouse earns honor at 2023 NABA International Beer and Cider Awards

Flix Brewhouse Frisco/Little Elm has been awarded a medal for one of its creations at the 2023 NABA International Beer and Cider Awards.

Now in its 26th year, the International Beer and Cider Awards are sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association. For 2023, the competition took place alongside the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with the combined festivities being the culmination of Idaho Beer Week.

Entries to the event were broken down into over 100 different categories covering beer, cider, seltzer, non-alcoholic beers and other hard beverages as stipulated by the 2023 North American Brewers Association Style Guide.

As for Flix Brewhouse/Little Elm, the brewpub/cinema was honored for Get Smoked, a German-style rauchbier featuring Beechwood-smoked pilsner malt.

HopFusion medals at 2019 NABA International Beer Awards

HopFusion Ale Works of Fort Worth has won an award for the second year in a row at the 2019 NABA International Beer Awards.

Sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association (NABA), the event has at times been referred to as simply the North American Beer Awards. Now it its twenty-third year, the competition was held once again in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Entries were judged against the 2019 North American Beer Awards Style Guide, with medals doled out in 96 different categories.

As for HopFusion, the company landed a silver medal for Bailiwick, a British pub ale currently available at the brewery as a taproom-only offering. For information on other top beers, click here to see a complete list of winners.

Rahr & HopFusion win medals at 2018 North American Beer Awards

You might say there's something to be said for session beers, at least considering the fact that two local breweries brought home medals in session beer categories from the recently-completed North American Beer Awards.

Put on as part of the annual Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho Falls, Idaho, judging for the 2018 North American Beer Awards took place May 29-June 1. Entries were evaluated according to the 2018 North American Beer Awards Style Guide, with criteria based on "classic, historical and well-established styles of beer, as well as recognized industry advancements updated to reflect the marketplace."

In terms of results, a total of 297 medals were awarded in 99 different categories. North Texas winners are noted below, with a complete list of medalists to be found by clicking here.

  • Gold for Adiós Pantalones in the Session Beer category.

Rahr & Sons recognized at 2017 North American Beer Awards

Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. of Fort Worth has once again been awarded medals at a national competition, this time being recognized for three of its beers at the 2017 North American Beer Awards.

The North American Beer Awards, which is held in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest, is an event put on by the North American Brewers Association. The competition, now in its 21st year, is judged based on style guidelines compiled by the North American Brewers Association Style Advisory Committee. Beers are evaluated in 92 categories by a panel of brewers, certified judges and other industry professionals.

This year, Rahr & Sons brought home the following medals:

  • Gold for Regulator in the Doppelbock category.
  • Silver for Ugly Pug in the Schwarzbier (Black Beer) category.
  • Silver for Iron Joe in the Coffee Beer category.
